Senior Director of Pharmacy
Providence
Olympia, Washington, United States
Lauren W. Bristow, PharmD, MBA, is a Senior Director of Pharmacy for Providence based in Olympia, Washington. After completing her PharmD at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, she relocated to Washington in 2007 to complete her PGY1 Pharmacy Residency in Acute Care. While working as a decentralized clinical pharmacist in numerous areas, she served on multiple EHR launch projects as a subject matter expert before eventually moving into an Operations Manager role in 2015.
The transition to leadership stoked her passion for excellence and leading well through innovation and change. By learning and practicing LEAN methodologies, Just Culture, and High Reliability tools, she led her team through projects that increased their efficiency and effectiveness: Automated Dispensing Device Inventory Optimization, 24-hr Technician Distribution Workflow Revision, and a resultant progressive, competency-based technician training model. Her first 5 years in leadership included hard-earned expertise in USP 797 compliance, controlled substance diversion investigation and prevention program development, and building a multi-million dollar inpatient pharmacy from design to operational occupancy. She now leads a team of leaders in both acute and ambulatory care and is the program director for a PGY2 plus a 1-year fellowship in Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership residency program. Her success centers around one promise made to her team and her colleagues: In every decision put the patients first and have the team's back.
