(1143) Evaluating Patient-driven Preferences for Vaccination Administration Settings

Objectives: The primary objective of this study is to identify patient preferences for vaccination administration settings in a post COVID-19 lockdown. The secondary objective is to identify patient preferences regarding preferences to which healthcare professional is administering the vaccine. During the COVID-19 lockdown era, the high demands for COVID-19 vaccine and limitations in access required vaccine providers to become creative with how administration could occur in a safe and accessible way. Post lockdown, as some restrictions ease up, the need for vaccination is still higher than ever, but vaccination administration setting options have returned to what were available pre COVID-19 lockdown. Patients may now not have access to vaccinations due to having less opportunities and accessibility, as pharmacies are reverting back to administration settings prior to lockdown. This survey will explore this challenge and allow healthcare providers to help meet those vaccination needs.

Methods: This is a prospective survey-based study. Electronic surveys will be distributed via links posted to social media, via QR codes to patients presenting to the pharmacy, or by word of mouth. Data collection will occur over a 5-month period between November 2023 to March 2024 using Qualtrics Survey system. Survey participation will be voluntary and anonymous. The study population will include participants who are the over the age of 18, willing to complete the survey in its entirety, and individuals who have received a vaccination in the last 12 to 18 months or are interested in a vaccination and fluent in English. The study will exclude individuals not wanting to participate in the survey, patients under the age of 18, and patients who have yet to receive vaccine in the last 12 to 18 months and do not plan on receiving vaccinations afterwards. Demographic data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics. The Chi-Square test will be used to examine the association between variables such as demographics and their preference in vaccination administration settings. Free response data will be analyzed for trends and patterns that can be further explored in future research.

Results: Research is currently in progress.

Conclusions: Conclusion to be presented following completion of data collection and analysis. The anticipated results of this study will assist in improving overall vaccination in the population, create better vaccination outcomes, enhance immunization services by adhering to patient settings preferences, and possibly reduce pharmacist burden by consulting results on if patients have no preference on who is to administer the vaccination.
