Saley Traore-Uwalaka, pronounced Tray-Oh-ray U-wha-lah-kah, is currently serving as a Senior
Fellow at Howard University College of Pharmacy. A dedicated professional in the field, Saley holds
a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) designation and is an alumna of the University
of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) School of Pharmacy and Health Professions.
Her journey in healthcare took a significant turn during her Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY1) training at
Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was here that Saley developed
a keen interest in Transitions of Care, coupled with a heartfelt passion for enhancing outcomes
among medically underserved and underrepresented populations.
As a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at the Medication Management Clinic, Saley has been at the
forefront of various clinical initiatives. Her focus has been on elevating clinical outcomes for patients
dealing with conditions such as Heart Failure, Diabetes, COPD, and those requiring anticoagulation.
Saley's leadership and innovative approach have been pivotal in steering these initiatives towards
success.
Beyond her clinical endeavors, Dr. Traore-Uwalaka is a trailblazer in pharmacy education. She is the
visionary force behind Rezi Prep 360, a groundbreaking career planning program. This initiative is
designed to prepare aspiring residency candidates for a successful Phase I match. Impressively, over
the past 7 years, Saley's program cohorts have achieved an outstanding average Phase I match rate of
96%.
Driven by a deep-seated commitment to inspire the next generation of pharmacists, Saley Traore-
Uwalaka encourages thinking outside the box. Her aim is to cultivate innovative solutions that
challenge traditional healthcare paradigms. In doing so, she aspires to instill a sense of creativity and
forward-thinking in the future leaders of pharmacy, paving the way for transformative changes in the
field.
