Michael Shiber, BPharm, NCPS

CAPT Michael Shiber reported as Regional Pharmacy Executive Officer to Coast Guard Training Center Cape May, NJ in July of 2021. He was selected as HSWL Clinic Senior Health Services Officer (SHSO) in the Fall of 2021. September of 2022 to July 2023, CAPT Shiber served as the Acting Regional Practice Director of the largest and busiest medical clinic in the Coast Guard. CAPT Shiber oversees all the medical, dental, readiness, emergency response, and ancillary medical services in the Region including Sector Delaware Bay, Air Station Atlantic City, and all tenant units throughout the commands.
CAPT Shiber enlisted in 1984 in the Army and served 3 years active duty and 3 years in Army Reserves. He was commissioned in the Public Health Serivice (PHS) in 2002 post 911. He was assigned to the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) and was detailed to over 20 facilities and served as their first National Clinical Pharmacy Director. In 2013, he was commissioned to Coast Guard Headquarters Clinic. At Base NCR CAPT Shiber lead the Pandemic response and immunization at Coast Guard HQ, their Shipyard, and all Texas units. CAPT Shiber has been a pharmacist for over 29 years with over 26 years of service to the Army, PHS & Coast Guard.
Selected as the Mary Louise Anderson Pharmacy Leader of the Year Award for his Leadership to the FBOP. CAPT Shiber was one of the first credentialed Pharmacists to be AAHIVM Board Certified, and has completed specialty training in Pain Management, Lipid Management, Diabetes Management, and is in the Book of “Whose Who” for his Immunization/Vaccination and HIV Expertise. CAPT Shiber was recognized by two Acting Surgeon Generals and the Assistant Secretary of Health in 2010 for a collaborative White Paper on Pandemic flu Response which would happen 9 years later in 2019.
