Pharmacy Consultant to USAF Surgeon General

Colonel Munro serves as the Pharmacy Consultant to the Air Force Surgeon General and Associate Chief for Pharmacy, BSC. He is the career mentor and professional advocate for more than 400 pharmacists and 1200 pharmacy technicians. Additionally, Col Munro serves as Pharmacy Flight Commander, 88th Diagnostics and Therapeutics Squadron, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. Colonel Munro was born and raised in southwestern Idaho. He earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Idaho State University and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma. He reported for active duty at Nellis AFB in July 1996 as the Chief of Clinical Pharmacy Services at the 99th Medical Group. After leaving Nevada, Colonel Munro served as the Diagnostics and Therapeutics Flight Commander for the 66th Medical Group at Hanscom AFB, overseeing operations in the laboratory, pharmacy, and diagnostic imaging departments. Following a second flight command at Mountain Home AFB, he served as Chief of Pharmacy Operations at the U.S Air Force Academy in Colorado. Colonel Munro was then selected to lead the San Antonio, Texas-based TRICARE Regional Business Office after completing a fellowship in Pharmacy Benefits Management with Medco Health Services in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. Colonel Munro then served as the Commander of the 673d Medical Group’s Pharmacy Flight, the Pacific Air Forces Pharmacy Consultant and Medical Group Biomedical Sciences Corps executive at Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson, Alaska. Prior to his current position, Col Munro commanded the 412th Medical Operations Squadron at Edwards Air Force Base, California.
