Dr. Cynthia J. Boyle is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Practice, Sciences, and Health Outcomes Research at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. She earned pharmacy degrees from the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy and the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, and she has practiced pharmacy in the community, health system, and consulting settings.
Dr. Boyle currently serves as vice president of the American Institute of the History of Pharmacy and is past president of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) and former Speaker of the House of Delegates. She chaired the 2020-2021 Argus Commission, comprised of the five most recent AACP presidents, which reported on “Adaptability, Agency, and Association to Influence Change.” She is a former president of national Phi Lambda Sigma (PLS). A former president and Speaker of the House of the Maryland Pharmacists Association, Dr. Boyle has received the APhA Good Government Pharmacist-of-the-Year and Francke Leadership Mentor Awards, as well the Bowl of Hygeia and Maryland’s Top 100 Women. She has taught “Effective Leadership and Advocacy” for two decades, and she received the 2022 AACP Robert K. Chalmers Distinguished Pharmacy Educator Award for contributions to education, scholarship, public and professional service and outreach, and impact. APhA Foundation recognized her in October, 2022, for the Next 10 Women in Pharmacy which highlighted women of influence.
