Kelsey Schwander, Pharm.D., CBIS, is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Pharmacy Resident Director of the three Postgraduate Year One Community-Based Pharmacy Practice Residencies at University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She teaches pharmacy students, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals. She specializes in motivational interviewing, traumatic brain injury (Certified Brain Injury Specialist), community pharmacy and cannabis. Her practice site is the Marcus Institute for Brain Health, where she serves as the clinical pharmacist and works on a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Dr. Schwander completed her Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. After graduation, she completed a postgraduate year one community pharmacy residency at the University of Colorado and Good Day pharmacy. After her residency, Dr. Schwander became the lead Clinical Pharmacist at Good Day Pharmacy, the largest independently owned pharmacy chain in Colorado. In this position, she created numerous clinical programs including pharmacist prescribing hormonal contraception, travel health, naloxone, point of care testing, and pharmacist prescribing smoking cessation. In Colorado the pharmacist prescribing hormonal contraception was the first standing order set where pharmacists could prescribe and Dr. Schwander was one of the first pharmacists to ever prescribe birth control to a patient in Colorado.
Dr. Schwander also owns a consulting company, BHealth Consulting which she provides specialized medication counseling, gives lectures, and assists patients, providers and businesses in creating practical healthcare solutions. She is passionate about developing new pharmacy clinical services, pharmacy business and helping students discover unique pharmacy career paths.
