Emily B. Zadvorny, PharmD, BCPS is a proud professional advocate and trained clinical pharmacy specialist. A native of Colorado, she earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Arizona and completed PGY1 and PGY2 residencies at the University of California San Diego. She is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist. She practiced clinically for over 20 years in cardiovascular and primary care at Kaiser Permanente CO and UCHealth. She is a clinical associate professor for the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy.
Dr. Zadvorny currently serves as the Executive Director for the Colorado Pharmacists Society, the only professional pharmacy association in the state of Colorado. CPS serves pharmacists, technicians, and interns, with a mission to promote, develop, and advance the profession of pharmacy to optimize patient care and public health. In this role she oversees the operational, educational, networking, and advocacy efforts for the Society. She influences public policies and has passed key legislation to advance pharmacists’ scope of practice and improve patient care in Colorado. Senate Bill 16-135 and House Bills 18-1112, 18-1313, HB 19-1242, HB 20-1061, HB 20-1078, SB21-094 and HB21-1275 are groundbreaking laws that expand pharmacists’ scope of practice, create statewide protocols in Colorado, advance reimbursement issues for pharmacists’ cognitive services (“provider status” for Medicaid and commercial payers), protect pharmacy practices, and elevate the level of training for pharmacy professionals. She represents Colorado practice at a national level, networking and advocating with national organizations, U.S. legislators, and other key stakeholders. She has been a source for NBC News, the New York Times, the Kaiser Health News, and many local news/media outlets.
In her spare time, she loves spending time with her two teenage boys and one dog, playing tennis, traveling, golfing, hiking and fishing - all the best Colorado has to offer.
