Georgina Silva-Suarez earned her Ph.D. in Public Health at Florida International University. She joined Nova Southeastern University (NSU), Barry and Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy as an assistant professor eight years ago. She belongs to the Sociobehavioral and Administrative Pharmacy Department and is based in San Juan, Puerto Rico Campus.
She teaches public health-related topics to the PharmD entry-level and the graduate program. She has a research collaboration with the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus, with whom she has engaged in qualitative research among vulnerable populations like expecting mothers and people living with HIV, among others.
At NSU, she collaborates with pharmacy practice faculty. She conducted a mixed-methods study addressing important topics for Puerto Rico, like pharmacy students' experience in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, the willingness of community pharmacists to test, treat, and immunize for CVOD-19, and Assessing stress and burnout among community pharmacists in Puerto Rico.
She oversees a PGY1 resident's research project and is part of an interprofessional education research project at NSU.
