Jessica Haase is a third-year student pharmacist at UW-Madison who graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 2021 with a Bachelors of Science in both Biology and Forensic Science with a chemistry focus. She focuses her pharmacy practice education and leadership in substance use disorders and mental health where appropriate. She was engaged with MEDiC, a UW-Madison Medical School organization focused on serving local underserved populations often without insurance. She was able to use her interprofessional communication skills and pharmacy knowledge at the mental health clinic as the drug and supply coordinator in 2023. She has also engaged in the Wisconsin Society of Student Pharmacists (WSPS) throughout the pharmacy school as a co-chair to Operation Substance Use Disorders. This position emphasized the importance of educating the public and school-aged children on the dangerous aspects of substance use disorder. She had the privilege of presenting a poster at the APhA Institute on Substance Use Disorders about this organization in 2023, a topic she is passionate about. She has worked at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital since 2022, starting as a technician and further developing her professional skills in an internship. She will continue exploring what the Madison VA has to offer through 6 APPE rotations in her fourth year of pharmacy school. She has also served as a co-chair for Community Service in Phi Delta Chi (PDC), a professional pharmacy fraternity on campus. This position has allowed her to give back to the community in various ways as this is another passion of hers. She is excited to become a pharmacist in the near future where she can provide patient-centered care to her patients.
