Thai Nguyen, PharmD, is currently the Public Health Pharmacy Fellow at University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy and a pharmacist at the Allegheny County Health Department. Dr. Nguyen fellowship is embedded within the Community Leadership and Innovation in Practice Center at the School. His research focuses on meeting public health needs by harnessing the accessibility, knowledge, and trust of pharmacists. Some of his most recent efforts have centered around promoting vaccination equity, increasing access, and reducing stigma surrounding sexually transmitted illnesses and substance use disorders. He also provides direct patient care for patients with tuberculosis at the health department Pulmonary Center. Previously, Dr. Nguyen helped develop and deliver lessons on the stigma surrounding substance use disorder to pharmacy technicians and medical assistant training programs. He also serves on the implementation team for a novel chlamydia and gonorrhea test-to-treat pilot in collaboration with the health department and a community pharmacy in Allegheny County. Dr. Nguyen graduated from University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy with an Area of Concentration in Global Health in 2021. After graduation, he practiced for a year in the community pharmacy setting before pursuing a fellowship.
