Josiah Villanueva is a student pharmacist at Nova Southeastern University's Barry & Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy and is anticipated to graduate in May 2025. His journey as a Doctor of Pharmacy candidate has cultivated a deeper passion for patient care and a desire to further develop his patient care skills. Since high school, Josiah decided to pursue becoming a pharmacist. He attended Florida State College in Jacksonville and the University of North Florida, with no intention of receiving a degree, but instead meticulously planned every semester to satisfy the prerequisites to apply for pharmacy schools. While being a student, Josiah has been very intentional to take advantage of any opportunity to develop his leadership, character, time management, professionalism, and research. He is very involved around the campus and aims to build up the community through his positions as a Dean’s Ambassador, Treasurer of the College of Pharmacy’s Student Government Association, and a Student Advisory Board member for the Palm Beach campus. Josiah is an active member of several professional organizations and has taken on many leadership positions, such as the Communications Chair for the Student College of Clinical Pharmacy, Media Chair for the Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Operation Heart Chair for the American Pharmacist Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists, Alumni Chairmen for Alpha Zeta Omega, and the Delegate for Phi Lambda Sigma. These organizations allowed him to give back to the community through many health fairs to administer COVID-19 and Influenza vaccinations, A1C and lipid screenings, roadside clean-ups, and beach clean-ups. Outside of his personal and academic development, Josiah has taken part in research projects and is looking forward to more opportunities. He is excited to continue the journey into becoming a pharmacist and to advance the world of pharmacy through his professional growth, research, and advocacy.
