My name is Marieli Ruiz Cortés, and I am currently a second-year pharmacy student at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus, School of Pharmacy. My journey in academia has been one of passion, curiosity, and dedication. My educational journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Microbiology and a minor in Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus. During my undergraduate years, I actively engaged in research projects and participated in various student associations. One significant experience from my undergraduate studies was my research on the microbiome of Holstein calves, which deepened my understanding of microbial interactions and their impact on the environment. After graduating in 2022, I eagerly transitioned to pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. While fully committed to my pharmacy studies, I also actively participate in student pharmacy associations, advocating for advancements in pharmaceutical care and patient well-being alongside my peers and mentors. While my primary focus remains on pharmacy, I am equally enthusiastic about expanding my knowledge through research endeavors. I'm particularly drawn to areas like infectious diseases and drug discovery, with a keen eye toward improving patient outcomes and addressing healthcare challenges. As I look forward, I'm excited about the opportunities ahead. I am dedicated to leveraging my diverse background and experiences to contribute positively to the pharmacy field and beyond. With a commitment to lifelong learning and making a difference in the lives of others, I eagerly anticipate the adventures that await me in the dynamic world of pharmacy and healthcare.
