When pharmacists are around, it’s tough to be a bug! From the time a patient is admitted to the hospital to picking up a prescription at the outpatient pharmacy, a pharmacist is part of the patient’s antimicrobial journey. This session will describe antimicrobial stewardship across practice settings and ways pharmacists can work together to squash bugs with the right drugs.

Compare and contrast the basic components and core elements of antimicrobial stewardship within the inpatient and outpatient setting
List examples of innovative communication strategies across pharmacy practice settings to ensure continuity of care with antimicrobial stewardship.
Discuss the role of entire health care team in antimicrobial stewardship efforts.
Identify resources available to support pharmacists in all practice settings with antimicrobial stewardship efforts.
