Seventy percent of adults in the U.S. have experienced some type of trauma at least once in their lives.  Trauma is everywhere, but why do some individuals process trauma in a way that leads to post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)?  Attend this impactful session to learn more about the impact of trauma, factors that contribute to progression to PTSD and drug-therapy options for treatment should this occur.   

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe trauma and factors that impact a person’s response to trauma. 
  • Summarize the pathophysiology and diagnostic criteria of post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD).  
  • Explain nonpharmacologic and pharmacologic treatment options for PTSD. 
  • Identify how pharmacists can support patients with trauma through thoughtful communication.
