HIV can be complicated to manage, but in an older adult it becomes even more complicated due to comorbid conditions and polypharmacy. Older adults living with HIV also have an increased risk of dementia, diabetes, osteoporosis, frailty and falls and some cancer. Attend this essential session to learn how to better support older adults living with HIV.  

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe physiological factors and comorbid conditions that impact HIV management in older adults.  
  • Discuss considerations for advanced care planning in older adults living with HIV.  
  • Interpret evidence related to pharmacotherapy selection for older adults living with HIV. 
  • Given a patient case, create a treatment and therapeutic monitoring plan for an older adult with HIV, considering goals of care.
