(1030) The Use of INPEFA™ (Sotagliflozin) in the Reduction of Hospitalization for Heart Failure and Urgent Heart Failure Visit: A Scoping Review

Objectives: Heart failure is a leading cause of hospitalization with approximately 1 million heart failure-related hospitalizations annually. Of these, approximately 25% of patients are readmitted within 30 days and 50% within 60 days due to heart failure-related complications. As heart failure can be a serious and life-threatening condition, mortality is relatively high with a 5-year survival rate of around 50%. Progression of disease is multifactorial due to a variety of factors such as age, underlying causes, and comorbidities. INPEFA™ is the first agent in a novel drug class, dual sodium-glucose cotransporter 1 and 2 (SGLT1/2) inhibitors, indicated to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death, hospitalization for heart failure, and urgent heart failure visits, in adults with heart failure or type 2 diabetes mellitus, chronic kidney disease, and other cardiovascular risk factors. The aim of this scoping review was to systematically explore the existing literature on INPEFA™, focusing on pharmacological properties, clinical applications, safety profile, and potential impact on various medical conditions.

Methods: Using MEDLINE secondary databases, a scoping review of the literature was performed with key search terms heart failure, sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor, and sotagliflozin. Current heart failure guidelines and American College of Cardiology resources were utilized for general information related to heart failure management and employment of sotagliflozin in practice. Inclusion criteria for trial eligibility for analyze included meta-analyses, systematic reviews, randomized controlled trials, observational studies, and descriptive studies investigating participants who were at least 18 years of age with a history of heart failure and received sotagoliflozin for treatment.
